the floom, room & vroom

everything you need to know about getting here, staying here, and getting around

✈️ floom (had to rhyme somehow)

san diego international (SAN) - best overall pick

  • class b airport with lots of flight options

  • fairly easy to get in and out

  • distance to key spots:

    • 39 miles (44 mins) to carlsbad village / oceanside

    • 35 miles (41 mins) to escondido

    • 48 miles (1 hour) to the wedding venue

  • recommended for: most guests, especially those who want to explore san diego before/after

john wayne - orange county (SNA)

  • smaller class c airport—super easy in and out

  • fewer flights but pleasant experience

  • distance to key spots:

    • 51 miles (47 mins) to carlsbad village / oceanside

    • 70 miles (1 hr 5 mins) to escondido

    • 57 miles (1 hour) to the wedding venue

  • recommended for: guests who want to explore irvine/oc/la pre- or post-wedding

los angeles international (LAX)

  • if you love chaos and stress, this is the airport for you 😅

  • class b, many flight options, but infamously hard to get in and out of

  • far from san diego, and transit from LAX to SAN is unreliable and often uncomfortable

  • use only if: you have no other choice, or are flying in internationally and can’t reroute

  • pro tip: if flying internationally, try to enter the country via san francisco international (SFO) or seattle-tacoma international (SEA) and then hop a short flight to SAN or SNA to avoid landing at LAX

  • distance to key spots. note that traffic can add 1-2 hours to your commute in los angeles:

    • 92 miles (1 hr 21 mins) to carlsbad village / oceanside

    • 109 miles (1 hr 35 mins) to escondido

    • 96 miles (1 hr 30 mins) to the wedding venue

🚗 vroom

to rent, or not to rent (a car)—that is the question

to rent (a car)

the world is your oyster!
renting a car gives you the most freedom to explore the area—especially helpful if you’re bringing kids, want to visit multiple cities, or are planning extra adventures before/after the wedding. parking around carlsbad village and oceanside is generally easy, though it can get tricky if you’re heading into downtown san diego.

not to rent (a car)

if you're not renting, we highly recommend staying in carlsbad village (see the room section above). it's walkable, full of great food, and perfectly positioned for the wedding shuttle. you’ll be able to get around easily by foot, bike, or rideshare—no stress, no parking woes.

to and from the wedding

🚍 complimentary shuttle service

  • pickup:

    • leaves from carlsbad village station at 2:55pm sharp

    • please arrive by 2:45pm

    • walkable or short ride share from most carlsbad village hotels/airbnbs

  • return:

    • departs venue at 10:15pm (wedding ends at 10:00 PM)

    • Please note: this is not the party bus. if you rsvp’d for the after party, you’ll have a separate ride

🎉 after party bus (21+ only)

  • a complimentary party bus will take after-party guests from the wedding venue to a bar in carlsbad village (venue tbd)

  • if you rsvp’d “yes” or “maybe” to the after party, you’re on the list!

  • changed your mind last minute? we’ll try to squeeze you in if there’s space! worst case, you’ll need to arrange your own ride—but we’ll make sure you’re not partying alone!

🚕 rideshare (lyft/uber)

  • rideshare from the venue can be very slow or limited

  • if you plan to rideshare, schedule your ride in advance

🚙 driving yourself

  • there is parking at the venue, but not enough for everyone

  • we strongly recommend using the shuttle if you're staying in or near carlsbad village / coastal oceanside

  • you can also park at the carlsbad village station (plenty of free spots) and hop on the shuttle from there

  • 🚨 please do not drink and drive, thank you
